Firefighter union contract assistant

Your contract.
Closer to every member.

A firefighter union contract assistant gives members a way to ask about their collective bargaining agreement and find the language behind the answer. UnionHall.AI grounds those answers in your local's uploaded documents, with citations members can open and check.

§ 01 · Everyday document questions

Start with the questions members already ask.

Contracts rarely live in one file. An MOU may change an article; a local rule or benefit plan may hold the detail a member needs. The assistant searches the available member documents rather than asking members to know which PDF to open first.

Hours & overtime

Where does our contract explain holdovers?

Find the language on tours, overtime and schedules in the documents your local has uploaded.

Leave & benefits

Which document covers this leave benefit?

Look across your CBA, MOUs and benefit documents, with citations to the language used in the answer.

Rules & procedures

What does our grievance article say about filing?

Locate the relevant procedure and read the source. An officer or steward can help with a specific case.

These are example questions. Whether an answer is available depends on your local's documents and the supporting language retrieved.

§ 02 · Follow the source

An answer you can trace back to the page.

Members ask in plain language. The assistant looks for relevant passages, then explains what the documents say. Citations identify the document, article or section, and page. Tap a citation to read the quoted language and open the source document.

Quotes are checked against the document text before an answer is shown. When the available language does not support an answer, the assistant declines instead of filling the gap with a guess.

§ 03 · Your local's library

Build from the documents your local uses.

Officers upload and organize the source material. The member library brings current documents together and keeps replaced versions in the archive. Member answers use the documents available to members; board-only material has separate access controls.

  • Collective bargaining agreement
  • MOUs & side letters
  • Bylaws
  • Civil service rules
  • Professional standards
  • Benefit documents
  • Department SOPs
  • Approved meeting minutes

Each local has its own document collection. Setup includes checking the uploaded material and reviewing answers against it. The demo is an illustration of the experience; it does not establish that your local's contract has already been loaded or verified.

§ 04 · From demo to your local

Review it with your E-board first.

  1. Explore the member experience.

Open the member demo, look at the document library and follow a citation. Bring the routine questions your members ask.

  2. Discuss your documents and setup.

Tell us your local, approximate membership and which source documents matter most. You can prepare a demo inquiry without uploading a contract or member information.

  3. Check the local configuration.

Before sharing your local's link, review its source material and answers. Pay tools need an approved local configuration; grievance deadlines need reviewed rules. Availability depends on that setup.

UnionHall also brings document access, news, holds and meeting tools into the same workspace. See the full feature overview. Voting currently has a nonbinding demo; binding elections remain subject to a separate readiness review.

§ 05 · Before you try it

A few practical questions.

Does it answer from the internet?
Member answers are grounded in your local's uploaded documents. If the retrieved material does not support the answer, it declines.
Do members need a separate app?
Members open the local's link in a browser and can save it to their home screen. A local may protect access with a shared code; separate member accounts are not part of the regular document experience.
Can officers read individual questions?
The manager console does not show individual member questions. Completed-month reports show generalized themes with a minimum of three questions per theme. That threshold counts questions, not distinct members.
Will the demo answer from our contract?
The public demo uses a demo local. Your local needs its own documents uploaded and reviewed before the assistant can answer from them.
